The 5G OnePlus 7 Price Will Be About £200 More Than The 6T

We haven't had the OnePlus 6T for long, but us tech obsessives are always looking to the next big thing and next year, it's 5G.

OnePlus is keen to be in the vanguard of the faster data tech, and we've known for a while they have a 5G phone coming ASAP. Now, we have more information about what will presumably be called the OnePlus 7: a little tidbit about pricing and variants from CEO Pete Lau.

Lau confirmed to Techradar that there'll be two versions of the new phone, one with 4G and one with 5G, since 5G will push the price up:

"Because 5G will be very much for a small unique portion of enthusiasts, we'll have a 4G product also developed and available in parallel."

As you might have surmised from the headline, the 5G OnePlus 7 will be about £200 more. Lau specifically said:

"My forecast is the cost will be between $200 and $300 higher for the 5G device. That's not necessarily a problem for our users as it is what they're after."

$200 to $300 is about £155 to £235, which is pretty significant in terms of handset cost. You're also going to have to pay extra for 5G service on your phone contract. Is it worth it? Would you pay £200 extra for a 5G phone next year? Let us know in the comments.
